Privacy & Cookie Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This Privacy & Cookie Policy explains how RightPlace.ie collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use our website and services. We are committed to handling your data fairly and transparently, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Irish data-protection law.
By using RightPlace.ie you acknowledge the practices described here. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Website.
1. Who we are
RightPlace.ie is an online property platform based in Dublin, Ireland ("we", "us", "our"). For the personal data we process about you, we act as the data controller. You can reach us about any privacy matter at privacy@rightplace.ie.
2. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run the platform. Depending on how you use RightPlace.ie, this may include:
- Account details — your name, email address, password (stored encrypted) and, for agents, your phone number and agency details.
- Advertiser & licence details — for estate-agent accounts, company information and PSRA licence number.
- Activity you create — favourites, saved searches, alert preferences, enquiries you send, and viewing bookings you make.
- Listing content — for advertisers, the property information, photos, descriptions and contact details you upload.
- Billing information — where you buy a plan or add-on, payment is handled by our payment provider; we receive confirmation and limited billing metadata, not your full card number.
- Technical data — device and browser information, approximate location, pages viewed and similar usage data collected through cookies and our servers.
3. How and why we use your information
We use personal data to:
- provide the service — show listings, run searches, deliver alerts, route enquiries and bookings to advertisers, and manage accounts;
- process payments and manage agent subscriptions and add-ons;
- keep the platform safe — verify advertisers, prevent fraud and abuse, and moderate content;
- communicate with you — send service messages (enquiry notifications, booking confirmations, account and security notices) and, where you opt in, marketing;
- improve RightPlace.ie — understand how the platform is used and make it better.
Our legal bases are: performance of a contract (providing the service you request), our legitimate interests (security, improving and promoting the platform), your consent (e.g. non-essential cookies and marketing), and compliance with legal obligations.
4. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary:
- With advertisers — when you send an enquiry or book a viewing, your message and contact details are shared with the relevant agency so they can respond.
- With service providers — trusted companies that host our infrastructure and database, process payments, send our emails, and provide mapping/address tools, acting on our instructions.
- Where required by law — to comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, or protect our rights, users and the public.
- In a business transfer — if RightPlace.ie is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale, data may transfer as part of that transaction.
5. Where your data is stored
We host our data within the European Union. Where any provider processes data outside the EU/EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place.
6. How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or to meet legal and accounting obligations. Account data is retained while your account is active; if you delete your account we remove or anonymise your personal data, keeping only what we must (for example, records needed for tax or fraud-prevention).
7. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent, and request a portable copy of it.
You can export your data and delete your account at any time from your account settings, or contact us at privacy@rightplace.ie. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
8. Cookies — what they are
Cookies are small files stored on your device that help a website function and remember your preferences. We also use similar technologies such as local storage. You can accept or reject non-essential cookies via our cookie banner, and manage them in your browser settings at any time.
9. Cookies we use
We group cookies into the following categories:
- Strictly necessary — required to sign you in, keep you logged in, remember your cookie choice and keep the site secure. These cannot be switched off.
- Functional — remember preferences such as recent searches or whether you've dismissed a prompt, to improve your experience.
- Analytics — help us understand how the platform is used so we can improve it. These are only set with your consent.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or sell your data.
10. Third-party tools
Some features rely on third-party services (for example maps, address lookup and payments). These providers may set their own cookies or process limited data when you use those features, under their own privacy policies. We choose providers that meet appropriate data-protection standards.
11. Children
RightPlace.ie is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Where changes are significant we will highlight them on the Website. The "last updated" date below shows the current version.
